Smart electrical panel in Sacramento
A smart panel is a service panel first and a feature set second: circuit-level monitoring, controllable circuits, and load management built into the equipment that already has to be there. We install and wire the smart panel you choose — the brand is your decision, and the electrical work is the same discipline as any panel replacement.

A panel first, a feature set second
A smart electrical panel is a real service panel — main, busbars, breakers — with monitoring and control built in. The intelligence is worth having, but it sits on top of the same equipment any panel replacement installs, and the panel underneath still has to be sized and wired correctly. That order is the whole decision.
-
The panel is the product
What lands on your wall is service equipment. It carries the loads, holds the breakers, and meets the same code as any panel we install. The app is the layer on top, not the thing on the wall.
-
What “smart” adds
Circuit-level monitoring, breakers or relays that can be switched and scheduled, and load management that can hold the service under its limit without a larger panel. That is the feature set, and it is real.
-
Why we lead with the panel
A smart panel that is undersized, or wired without the capacity check, is still an undersized panel. We size and plan it the way we would a panel replacement first; the smart features are the easy part.
So the honest first question is whether you are replacing a panel and want it smart, or chasing one feature a smaller job already covers.
A smart panel monitors circuits and manages load, not capacity
The capability is genuinely useful. It is also specific, and worth naming plainly so the panel is bought for what it does.
Monitoring and control
It measures what each circuit draws and lets you see it, and it can switch or schedule circuits — remotely, or on a rule. For a household adding an EV charger, a heat pump, or a battery, that visibility is the point.
Load management, not more capacity
By shedding or staggering large loads, a smart panel can keep the total under the service rating — often letting a close service carry a new load without a 200-amp upgrade. It manages capacity; it does not create it. If the service is genuinely short, that is still an upgrade.
Smart panel brand is yours; the electrical install is ours
There is more than one smart panel on the market, and they are not identical. We do not steer you to one badge — we wire the equipment you choose and make sure it fits the house.
-
You pick the platform
The app, the ecosystem, and how it talks to a battery or charger are yours to choose. Those differences are real and personal, and none of them is an electrical decision.
-
We make it fit
What we confirm is the electrical side: that the panel is rated for the service, that it lands where it has to, and that the loads and any battery or charger are wired to work with it.
-
The work is the same discipline
Underneath the features, installing one is a panel replacement: permit, load check, and correct service equipment. That part we own regardless of which brand is on the door.
When a smart panel isn’t the right job
A smart panel is a full panel plus features. Three neighbors look similar and are smaller jobs.
You only need more capacity
If the question is whether the house can carry a new load, start at panel upgrade — the answer can be no, and it does not require a smart panel.
You only want to manage load
Keeping a close service under its limit is often load management, which can be added without replacing the whole panel with a smart one.
The existing panel is failing
If the reason you are here is that the panel itself is damaged or obsolete, that is a panel replacement — smart is an option on it, not the reason for it.

Smart panel questions
Which smart panel brand do you install?
Whichever one you choose. We are not tied to a single badge — the app and the ecosystem are your decision. What we own is the electrical side: sizing, the permit, and wiring the equipment so it fits the house.
Do I need a smart panel to add an EV charger or a battery?
No. A charger is usually its own circuit, and whether the service can carry it is the panel upgrade question. A smart panel is worth it when you want the monitoring and control, not as a requirement.
Will a smart panel let me skip a service upgrade?
Sometimes. Its load management can hold a close service under its limit and carry a new load without a 200-amp upgrade. It manages capacity rather than adding it — if the service is genuinely short, the upgrade is still the honest answer.
Is installing one different from a normal panel replacement?
The electrical work is the same: a permit, a load calculation, and correct service equipment. The smart features are configured on top of that, so we treat the panel underneath as a replacement first.
Can I make my existing panel smart without replacing it?
Partly. Some monitoring and control can be added to an existing panel without a full swap. A true smart panel is the whole piece of equipment. Which one fits depends on what you want and what the existing panel is.
What is a smart electric panel?
A listed panel or breaker set that reports circuits and can turn off some loads when the service is tight. It still has to pass the same load calculation as any other service.
Are smart electrical panels worth it?
Worth it when you want circuit-level monitoring or load shedding for solar, battery, or a charger. We match the hardware to the main.
