Workplace EV charging, multifamily charging, and load management
Chargers on a Sacramento commercial service. The load question first — then workplace, multifamily, submetering, or management across a row of stalls.
Workplace EV charging
Employee or fleet Level 2 stalls on a commercial service. The load question comes first — a row of chargers on a service that cannot carry them is a failed install.
Workplace EV chargingMultifamily EV charging
Assigned stalls or a shared garage on house load or on assigned meters. Those are different designs. Tenants plugging in is this job; a workplace lot is not.
Multifamily EV chargingCommercial EV load management
Several chargers sharing a feeder or a service so the building does not buy a service upgrade it does not need. Submetering bills the stall; a service upgrade is only after the calculation.

How commercial EV charging is designed as a load problem first
A row of chargers is a service question before it is a stall question. Workplace, multifamily, and managed sharing are different designs.
-
The service before the stalls
What the building can carry, at what hour, decides how many Level 2 ports actually work. A row on a service that cannot carry them is a failed install.
-
Workplace vs multifamily billing
Employee or fleet stalls on a commercial service are one design. Assigned stalls or a shared garage on house load vs assigned meters are another. Those pages are not interchangeable.
-
Load management vs an upgrade
Several chargers sharing a feeder can keep the building off a service increase it does not need. A calculation that already says the service is short is a different job.
-
Accessible stalls and the next row
Code-required access, networked reimbursement, and conduit for the next row of ports are cheaper to put in the first visit than to trench twice.
What commercial charging connects to
A row of chargers is a service question, a property question, and an upkeep question.

Commercial EV charging questions
What to settle before stalls are striped.
Do we need a service upgrade for workplace charging?
Not automatically. Load management can share a feeder. A service increase is only after the calculation says the building is short. Start at workplace EV charging.
Are multifamily stalls the same as a workplace lot?
No. House load vs assigned meters, and who is on the bill, are different designs. That is multifamily EV charging.
Can tenants be billed for charging?
Yes, with submetering or assigned meters — metering, not the charger itself. Load management keeps the service honest while that is sorted.
What do you need from us?
