What Christmas light installation involves
Holiday lighting is an electrical job before it is a decorating one. The rooflines and the trees are the easy part; the outdoor circuits that feed them, the GFCI protection they need, and the timer or app that runs them are what keep it safe and hands-off. We handle the power and the install — a seasonal set of Christmas lights, or permanent roofline lighting that stays up and does subtle white light the rest of the year.

High or steep rooflines
Two-story eaves, steep pitches and tile roofs are where do-it-yourself holiday lighting goes wrong. The access and the attachment are planned so nothing is damaged.
Not enough safe outdoor power
One outlet feeding the whole display, or a GFCI that trips under load, is the common failure. The circuit is checked and, where needed, added.
Permanent roofline lighting
App-controlled LED tucked into the eave stays up year round — white for everyday, color for the holidays — and never has to go up again.

Rooflines and eaves, columns and railings, trees and yard features each need a different amount of light and a different way of attaching. Starting from the look you want makes the power and the labour easy to judge.

Outdoor lighting has to run on GFCI-protected circuits, and a full display draws more than most people expect. Which outlets can carry it — and whether a dedicated outdoor circuit is worth adding — is settled first.

Christmas light installation: what changes the cost
Holiday lighting is priced from how much is lit, how hard it is to reach, and how it is powered — not from a length of lights alone.

How much is lit
Rooflines only, or rooflines plus trees, columns and yard features. The linear footage and the number of separate runs set most of the labour.

Height and access
Single-story eaves are quick; two-story rooflines, steep pitches and tile add time and equipment, and time is most of the cost.

Seasonal or permanent
A set installed and taken down each year is a different job from permanent roofline lighting fitted once and left in place.

Power and protection
Whether the existing outdoor circuits can carry the display on GFCI protection, or a new protected outlet or circuit is needed.

Timers and controls
A basic timer, a photocell, or an app-controlled color system each change what is wired at the outlet.

Holiday lighting questions
Do you take the lights down afterward?
For a seasonal install it can be part of the arrangement, so the takedown is not left to you in January. Permanent roofline lighting stays up and is simply switched off instead.
Can the lights run on a timer?
Yes. A timer or a photocell brings them on at dusk and off on a schedule, and app-controlled systems let you set color and timing from your phone. It is decided with the install so the wiring suits it.
Is permanent roofline lighting worth it over yearly lights?
If you light the house every year, often yes. It goes up once, tucks into the eave so it is barely visible by day, and does subtle white light the rest of the year — not only the holidays. Whether it suits your roofline is checked on site.
Is this the same as exterior security lighting?
No. Coverage of an entry, path, or dark side of the house is exterior and security lighting. This job is a display on the roofline and trees.
How do professionals install Christmas lights?
We run outdoor cables and clips, keep mounting screws out of the shingles so we don't damage the roof, and put the load on a GFCI-protected circuit that can take it.
