Ungrounded outlet upgrade — a real ground where it can be run
Ungrounded outlet upgrade in Sacramento is a two-part problem: the receptacle and the run. A GFCI can protect a two-prong location; it does not create a ground. Running an equipment ground, or replacing the branch, is the upgrade. Bootleg grounds are not.

Can I replace an ungrounded outlet with a grounded outlet?
A three-prong outlet needs an equipment ground or a GFCI labeled for no equipment ground. We pick the method the inspector will accept.
Can you sell a house with ungrounded outlets?
You can list it. Inspectors write two-prong and open-ground as findings. Buyers often want the upgrade.
